PostSubject: The Rare Wolf   The Rare Wolf I_icon_minitimeMon Jan 03, 2011 2:51 am

The full moon was high in the night sky as she moved from the house, leaving her children asleep in bed. As soon as she was away from the windows on her neighbours house she changed, growling and snarling as the muscles all throughout her constricted and changed, making her change into a humanoid shaped white werewolf.

Quick strides took her towards the waters edge and she stood on one of the jetties, still as stone waiting for one of the trout to come swimming past. One did and with a quick lunge of her head snapped it out of the water and pounded it on the jetty killing it.

She was quick to strip it of the meat and then kicked the bones into the water once more. Leaning over the water again, she rinsed her fish blood covered nose off and drank from the river, watching the bones sink to the floor of the bay.

Smiling and pleased she loped off quickly to get back home, unaware of the eyes watching her moving through the town.

She stopped only once, to raise onto her hidlegs, standing like a human and howl at the full moon, the sound was beautiful. yes there was a werewolf in Yelena, but they seemed unaware of her presence here. She knew they knew of her kind, but not that she was here.

Ceylon Richards

He pulled the small row-boat back onshore, grunting quietly as he heaved its weight. His shirtless, muscled chest rippled with the effort, finally sighing with relief as he set it on the moonlit sands of the beach.
He had been fishing in the dark, one of the best times of day to hunt for the river fish.

He paused, grey eyes snapping up at the howling sound and landing on the tall, standing white wolf. But not just any wolf, a werewolf.
He blinked, shocked as it disappeared into the forest, his heart leaping a few beats. A werewolf, in his town!

Now, Ceylon wasn't an easily scared man. He had often stood his ground clearly, often been called gruff in personality. But he only did it for those he knew and those he loved. So, leaving the boat where it lay, his large feet carried him into the forest after it. Every plan of killing it and presenting the head to his elders.

She heard the following man and knew that he was tracking her, likely to try and kill her off. She stopped in a small clearing, and called, "Come and play, little human." She turned slowly into the direction he was in, phasing back to a human as she went.

Long slender cream skinned legs, a muscled frame and narrow ribcage came into sight as the wolf vanished leaving her in its place. Long locks of hair fell from her head as she faced him. She really looked liked someone who was a really talented ice skater, than the huge seven foot tall wolf that had been in her place, considering her human form was only five foot tall.

"Am I really such a monster worth killing? I don't hunt humans unless provoked. Fish are the prey I hunt, nothing more."

Ceylon Richards.

The quiet footsteps carried him forth, pausing every time he felt himself getting to close to her graceful movements. But, despite all this worry of being caught, she had seen or heard him anyways.

Stepping out from the trees with nothing more then unclenched fists as a weapon, he watched in awe as she shifted back to her human form. It was his neighbor, the beautiful woman who had children. Triplets, to be exact.
Worried as he was for his villages safety, he would not rid three little girls of their only parent.
His grey eyes ran over her, up and down her long pale legs, her muscular frame and short cut hair.

His mouth opened and closed, a sheepish grin appearing on his handsome features.
"I apologize, my lady," he murmured "I appear to have stumbled upon a secret of yours."
He bowed his head slightly, touching his fingers to his lips in a sign of silence.
"I shan't tell another...so long as you keep your promise," he said, lifting his head and staring at her with those deep, soulful grey orbs and blinked slowly.

With those words, he backed away slowly his head still bowed and short locks falling over his eyes.

She smiled at him, knowing who he was. "I doubt you were expecting it to be me that's the werewolf haunting our village. I'm not a killer, well, except of fish anyway in the other form. Easiest thing to hunt for me."
Her eyes took him in for a few seconds. "I don't believe we've actually spoken before, have we? Maya's my name, what's yours?"
She chuckled. “I’m not one of the killing type of werewolf. Sure I might knock someone out occasionally but thats about all. And they have to give me a reason to hurt them in the first place.”

Ceylon Richards.

He paused in his backing strides, staring at her in question and nodded slightly.
"Not you indeed, there are...others in the village who would be more likely," he smiled slightly, offering his hand for her to shake.
"Ceylon, Ceylon Richards."

He pulled his hand away slowly, allowing it to drop by his side and sighed.
"So.." he searched for words "I am sorry, truly...by my earlier reaction. You must understand that these people, the whole small village are my family. I would and will do anything to protect them..."
"But I won't rid three little girls of their mother," he looked at her, making sure she understood. She was safe this time, but if it had been another she most likely wouldn't be. Unlike most, Ceylon had standards. He was protective, yes, but he always thought of the meanings it would cause. She wasn't hurting one, and until she did she could live freely.

“Unless someone knows my weakness, no one can hurt me really.” It was not something she was glad about. “If I was able to be normal, I would be, but it’s not able to happen for my family. Annoyingly it’s a hereditary thing. At the moment though I’m the only one in the village. My girls aren’t old enough, though soon they will be.”

She sighed. “You’ll see a lot of me, I often hunt at night, the girls don’t know what I am, though I’ll tell them one day. They know about the white werewolf apparently terrorizing people, when I don’t at all.”

Ceylon Richards.

He blinked, grey orbs half closing in the moonlit clearing.
"Your weakness is known...Maya, it is told in every story of your kind," he said simply, pinching the bridge of his nose between two fingers and huffed a sigh.
His eyes flashed open, studying her for a quiet moment.
"What if your girls wake? Don't they worry of where you are or what has happened to you?" he questioned, somewhat curious.

The handsome human turned slightly, peering though the trees and seeing the wide open sea he called his second home. He knew he was doing the right thing here, but hiding her, but he couldn't help that it was for the wrong reasons.
It was rare he was attracted to someone because of their beauty, it was not normally a trait he looked for. But with her, it was impossible to see past it and still want more.

“When it comes to the girls, it is a risk I have to take. There is no other option I know of at the moment.”
She sighed, shaking her head.

“I wish there was some way I did not have to leave the house so much at night. I worry constantly when I’m out there. What if there were werewolf hunters out here one night? They’d lose their mother, seeing as their father refuses to know them.”

It was clear that she was always thinking about the things that made her what she was. The things that made her not so normal as the others in town.

Ceylon Richards.

His face clouded with worry, sensing her own. But, slowly a plan came to mind and his face clearing as he did so.
"A wolf bane potion..." he whispered, clearing this throat before saying it louder so she could hear.
"There are also another option, in the myths that is...a wolf bane potion, meant to stop the werewolf from well, being a werewolf. Or at least tame it somewhat..." he mused, flashing her a small smile.
"There is only one person, who would know if it is true or not though...Sahar, the witch of the wild," he grimaced slightly "but I don't know if she would help us.."

"I've never heard of that before, nor have I heard of this, Sahar witch person," Maya replied. She hung her head. "I don't socialise much, because of what I am. I get worried that someone who gets close to me might be in the wrong place on a full moon and I might hurt them."

Not to mention she knew he was one of the people that were close to her. She knew that he had made her aware of something that no one else understood about the werewolves. It would seem that she had imprinted on him, and not even realised it. The thought was impossible for her, but he would have to explain about it sooner or later.

“Maybe we should talk about this someplace safer than out here.” She’d heard them again, hunters. “I’ll meet you back home, there’s someone on my trail and I don’t want them catching you with me.”

With that she changed form, running through the trees quickly towards where she knew the others were. Hunters, she’d been right.

She howled, drawing their gaze. She knew of a few pits they would fall into chasing ehr in the darkness. Seven foot of werewolf moved through the woods, being chased by the horse mounted men. She did not care for the animals, she ran faster than them.

It only took three pits before she was freed of their following hooves. Loping back home she jumped over her back fence before phasing back human again. Moving out to the front lawn she smiled. “back again.”

He blinked, nodding slowly and watched her sprint off with worry upon his heart. For some reason, this odd beautiful woman, sent shivers down his spine. The good kind as well, they seemed to warm his empty heart.
"Stay safe," he whispered, unknowing why before tracking back down the path towards his home.

He waited for her, upon her back yards grass. Sitting cross legged with ease, a practice despite his large size, he was used to. His eyes closed, yet ears opened, he heard her quiet approach.
"Good," he said, orbs flashing opened with a grin and moving to his feet.

The young woman smiled as she came up to him. “Nothing I couldn’t handle. Just a couple of mounted poachers. Don’t worry, I didn’t hurt them, I just managed to trick them into a few places I knew would end their searching and allow me to get out of the way. Happens every full moon. You would think they would learn.”

She chuckled. It wasn’t something that was hard for her to evade anymore. She loved the way she tricked them. “They don’t seem to watch where they are going, they always seem to only have their minds on me.”

"That isn't that hard to relate to.." he muttered quietly to himself, clearing his throat with a warm smile to the girl with a small gesture.
"So, what do you think of this quest I have in mind?" he questioned, eyebrow rising and a hand running though his short brown locks. He, himself, thought it was a great idea. If they got the potion and it worked, well he wouldn't have to worry about the villagers nor her or her children. He waited for a reply, all the patients in the world.

She snorted. "I was thinking about that while I was running from those hunters. It'll be worth a shot, I'm sick of the hunts." She chuckled. “I have a friend in town that will look after the kids if I need her to. So there is no trouble there.”
She didn’t like leaving the girls behind, but it was safer for her and for them if they stayed with her friend. “Probably be at least one full moon while we’re travelling, so don’t be surprised if I wander off one night.” It was not something she wanted to do, but she had to least she risk his safety.

He shrugged his shoulders, nodding. It was a good idea to bring the children, there was a chance they might not even find the odd witch of the legends.
"We can leave tomorrow...?" he questioned, knowing he would have to gain permission from his father due to the fact that he was unable to work himself any more. His mother could, but fishing often was to hard on the mothers.

"And good thing you did not hurt them..." he added, though knowing they planed on hurting her. He sighed, it was a hard thing to try and balance.

“I ty not to hurt those who hunt me. Maybe their horses will be lame now, but it was their choice to come galloping after me at night time. Nothing beats the site of the werewolves and vampires at nightfall. Though I’m not your typical wolf. Those who are hereditary like me are called lycans, or lycanthropy’s. it means we have somewhat more control in the wolf form, than those who are, bitten.”

She shook her head. “I've known a few though of the typical kind who are a little bit more in control though.” Sighing she smiled. “I was given something by my mother after my first time as a wolf, and since I began wearing it, I’m always more human in thought when I’m a wolf.”

~Next morning~

Ceylon Richards

He awoke the next morn, full of energy. It was a rare day for someone from the small village to leave for somewhere quiet unknown. Least of all a witch of the wild. His father had given his blessing, having gained another hand from a young lad a town over.
Now, heavy pack over shoulders, he kissed his mother's cheek and shook his fathers hand before trudging outside and knocking on Maya's door.
"Maya," he called quietly, unsure if she was still asleep at this time of morn. It was just past dawn, half the town was already out at sea fishing, the other still in bed sleeping.
He knocked again before waiting patiently.

She’d been sleeping as a wolf that night, but her friend had let herself in earlier that morning to get the girls. She was still in her wolf form though, knowing there were some things she felt more comfortable doing as a wolf.

Hearing the voice though out on the street from last night, she sighed, uncurling and phasing again. Her hair didn’t take more than a minute to get back to normal. Then she headed out to the front lawn.

“Hey,” she said, smiling at him. “Don’t worry, I was awake, didn’t sleep much last night after what happened in the woods, you know.”

He flashed her a dimpled grin, shifting the packs weight slightly so it sat better upon his back as the door opened, showing her beautiful face.
"Good morning," he said cheerfully "ready to get going?"
He had always been an early morning person, having had to grow up and fish at all times of the day. Whatever sleep he got, he used well.
"Are your girls taken care of?" he asked with a question rise of his eyebrow and a gesture towards the open road "we should leave before we loose to much more light."

"They will be fine, my friend came for them a lot earlier this morning. They were excited to be staying with her for a while." She smiled. "I'm ready when you are."
Maya did not need to bring anything really, all she needed was herself. When it came to food and things, she'd hunt. It was easy, but messy at times. Depended on what game were available in different areas. "Don't worry about running out of food by the way. That is easy to get."
Especially when he had her around. She felt a little more human now than she had in a while.
